The
Rotary Club of Stonehaven was formed in 1947 with 25 members. It received it's
Charter on 29th January 1948. Hugh Ramsey MBE JP was Founder President. The Club
has now 50 members, including 6 Lady Members.
The Club is
twinned with Thirsk Rotary Club and since 1984 reciprocal week-end visits are
made to each other's club, annually.
The Club is in Aberdeenshire, North-East of Scotland
with weekly meetings held in the St Leonard's Hotel
(01569-762044) every Wednesday lunchtime at 12.45pm.
The object of Rotary is
to
encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise
and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
2.
High ethical standards in business and professions: the recognition of the
worthiness of all useful occupations: and the dignifying by each Rotarian of
their occupation as an opportunity to service society.
3.
The application of the ideal of service by each Rotarian to their personal,
business and community life.
4.
The advancement of International understanding, goodwill and peace through
world-fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of
service.
